Heart You

Good day! I’ve been having a blast teaching at Scrapaholics this month & I’m giving a big & thankful shout out to all the lovely ladies that attended my classes.  Today I get to share with you my blue & gold fun mixed media layout class:

“Heart You”

Heart You

Shiny, shimmery, inky & glittery…we’ve had some messy fun in the class for sure.

Loving all the Green Tara flowers in this layout.  Hopefully they get to supply more of these soon.

My daughter gave me the 2 thumbs up for this layout.  I’m so lucky to have children who adore looking through their scrapbooks (made by their mom of course!).  Just one of the many reasons I thoroughly enjoy this craft, & now I’m on a mission to share it.  I hope you’ve had a great month & thanks for popping in.  Do check out my class at Scrapaholics next month here.  It’ll be a set of 3 cards this time using the beautiful Storyteller range.  Hope to see you there. 🙂

Masculine Birthday Card

Hi there, how’s your week going? Mine has been busy planning on new ventures, keeping the kids occupied (it’s school holidays!), & birthdays happening left, right & center.  I make sure to give myself some creative time & today I get to share with you a masculine card.  This is inspired & for Berry 71 Bleu’s “Get Your Sparkle On” January Challenge:

January 2016

Here’s my take on the lovely board, with a dark & shimmery masculine card:

Masculine Birthday Card

The shades of blue & the dark starry sky are what attracted me most from the challenge board, & I tried to incorporate these to the card.  My hubby will be having his birthday very soon & I hope he likes it.

I’ve embossed & painted the cogs keeping to the colors of the card.

Thanks so much for dropping by & that’s it for my quick post today.  Now I’m off to do & tick off more tasks from my to-do list.  Have a great weekend!

An American Vintage Clock For Dad

Hi there, how are you today? As for me, I wish I was at CHA right now.  Just imagine all the crafty goodness all in one place.  One day I’ll have to make a trip there, for sure.

My hubby is celebrating his birthday soon so this got me thinking of what I could create for him.  I have a dad word wooden clock & I thought this would be perfect for his office.  I wanted to create something masculine without having to use blue as a predominant color.  Hence why I layered the clock with papers from the awesome American Vintage collection by 7 Gypsies:

IMG_7802

The base/background is the Across USA paper, & the dad word is adhered with the State Plates paper.  The edges have been inked with a brown inkpad.

IMG_7803

I sure had fun building the cluster at the left side of the clock.  It consists of the following 7 Gypsies goodness: Road Trip Book Knob, Antique Brass Metal Label Holder, & Correspondence Mini Ephemeras.  The cog chipboards are given coats of the following Tattered Angels paints: Cowboy Glimmer Glaze, Graphite Glimmer Mist, & Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist.

IMG_7815

Texture has been added by stamping with the same brown inkpad & Canvas Corp’s Be Beautiful Cling Stamp set, among other stamps from my stash.

IMG_7813

The cluster is finished off with a strand of Natural Jute Rope that is lightly stained with Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist.  Last but not the least is my favourite step, which is adding splatters of Gold Glimmer Mist on the clock.

I’m really pleased on how it turned out.  I always enjoy creating masculine projects, & I’ll have to make a point of doing more of it this year.  I hope you enjoyed my post today, & thanks heaps for dropping in.  Do check out the Canvas Corp shop here.  Until then.

Most Wonderful Time

Good day.  We’re almost onto December & this has got me inspired to create festive projects lately.  I love Scrap Around the World’s festive November mood board:

decembre

My main inspiration is the wooden star on top of the lit tree, & also the top left image’s white wood & “Most Wonderful Time” sentiment.

“Most Wonderful Time”

Most Wonderful Time

This is my first mixed media Christmas layout, & I had fun creating it :).  We don’t get snow in our side of the world but I really wanted to add some “white” touches to the page, hence the splatters of white paint.

013

I’ve added some media on the hessian paper & layered a star silhouette cut out from a white wood paper.  This is then layered under the sepia photo, giving it a nice frame &  just the right amount of texture & shimmery color.  Various alpha stickers are added at the right side as inspired by the board.  I’ve added a little touch of heart on the photo as well.

015

She’s very happy & delighted to have Santa visit & give her a present from her preschool.  She couldn’t stop talking about it to everyone for weeks! 🙂

016

Thanks for dropping by & I hope you enjoyed my post today.  A big thanks also for the fab inspirations of the SATW team.  Enjoy the rest of your month!

Sister, My Greatest Joy

Hi there, how’s it going? I hope you’ve had a great weekend celebrating dads’ special day.  Today I’m  posting an album with the lovely Generations collection for Artfull Crafts.  It’s got a heritage & vintage feel to it, which I enjoyed creating with it.  I like that it has some soft pretty colors mixed in it, rather than having too much brown which some heritage papers may have.  Here’s the front cover:

“Sister, My Greatest Joy”

Sister, My Greatest Joy

The Generations collection comes with a 12×12 Paper Pad (48 sheets) which I’ve used in each page of this album.  Aren’t the Wooden Babushka Dolls adorable?

063

The pretty corals, blues & greens are what attracted me to create with this collection, & the inspiring words & quotes that come with it as well.  Perfect for all family & geneaology projects.

065

A few bits of ribbons & lace have been snuck in the pages & tied to the album ring.

068

Having the photos printed sepia works well with this collection & gave a lovely nostalgic feel to the whole album.  I’ll surely reminisce when looking at this album every time the girls grow up.

075

There’s a variety of Artfull Embellies throughout: Pastel Polka Dots Wooden Button; Antique Bronze Small Key; Pocket Watch Charm; Antique Bronze Clock Face Charm; Antique Bronze Small Flower Charm; Wooden Colored Peg; Silver Heart Charm; & White Waxed Cord.

076

There’s also some old school Kaisercraft rub ons & wooden flourishes on some of the pages.

079

Of course there are some lovely die cut pieces from the Collectables & phrases from the Sticker Sheet as well.

085

Last is the back of the album:

091

So take a step back in time to remember generations, past and present with the beautiful Generations collection.  If you love vintage timepieces, keys and floral patterns, you have to take a good look at this collection here.

Thanks so much for dropping by & having a look at the album with me.  Have a great day!

A Thanks For Teacher

Hi there.  Today I’m posting a card for Artfull Crafts.  I just received a sad news that one of my daughter’s favourite preschool teacher will be leaving the centre soon.  She’s found a job closer to home & this is very understandable.  No need for long drives & she gets to see her girls more often, not getting home so late.  She’s been such a big & important part & we can only wish all the best for her.  This calls for an extra special thank you card, which I’m sharing with you today.

“Thankful”

Thankful Card

Extra special means lots of layers.  I love the prettiness of the Secret Garden collection, with a bit of mixed media thrown in.

014

There’s a good variety of ribbon & embellishments at Artfull Crafts, & surely there’s something there that will tickle your fancy.  In this card I’ve added a Butterfly Artfull Embellies & some Vandoros Herringbone Ribbon with a pin through it.

015

I’ve lightly applied some gesso at the base of the card.  Once dry, I had a good play with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, & Kaisercraft & Prima stamps.

017

The dies that I’ve used here are My Favourite Thing’s Die-Namics Swirls die (which you can request from the shop) & Kaisercraft’s Doily Die.  Some left over from the specialty paper, stickers & collectable pieces are added.  The front of the card is finished off with some mini paper blooms.

022

Inside I’ve added a cheeky photo of my (cheeky) daughter for her to keep.  The white doily provides a great writing space inside the card.  Something different, & it really goes well with the Secret Garden papers.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the card with me.  I was very inspired creating it & I hope she’ll love it as much as I do.  Remember to appreciate & be thankful to all our wonderful teachers.  They do so much for us & they need to be reminded that often.  Do check out the Secret Garden collection here.  Thanks for dropping by.

Until then,

Wish

Good day! Today I’m sharing a mixed media birthday card that I’ve recently created & given to family.

“Wish”

"Wish" Card

The card base is from Prima’s Engraver collection.  I love the striking black & white prints on it.

031

I then played with my Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmer Mists on a smooth white cardstock.  The 2 colors I’ve used are Honeydew & Ocean Wave.  It was love at first sight as soon as I saw these mists in the shop, hence why I got my hands on them straight away!

033

I then used quite a few Tim Holtz stamps for adding texture & design to the background.  What’s great about this card is that it looks simple when you first look at it, but look closer & you’ll find layers without the bulk.  The mini chipboard alpha from Scrap Matrix was painted silver & the Kaisercraft deer chipboard has been painted black.

So there’s my card, I hope you enjoyed looking at it.  It was lots of fun creating it! Thanks heaps for popping in & have a great day!

Cheers,

Enjoy the Open

Hello, hello! It’s time for Let’s Capture Our Memories reveal sketch#108, courtesy of Page Drafts by The Nifty Pixel:

Jan.18 Sketch#108

I’ve been enjoying creating cards for LCOM, & I have to say that this is one of my favourite sketch.  Here’s my card:

“Enjoy the Open”

Enjoy the Open

I’m stoked how it turned out! I’ve given this card to our friends before they left for the Aussie Open for a couple of weeks.  I received a happy phone call from them as soon as they received it, & got them really excited for the great event.

Don’t forget, you can join in the LCOM challenge here.  Thanks for dropping by & have a great day!

A Little Girl’s Kiss

Wow, can you believe we’re more than halfway through January already? How’s the start of your year going so far? I’m posting today for some “XO” inspiration for Artfull Crafts.  Let’s start off with a layout I’ve created called “A Little Girl’s Kiss”.  This is the sweetest moment captured ever, so I really wanted to document it.  The XO collection is perfect for this…a mix of sweet & pretty colors, prints & patterns.  Here’s my layout:

“A Little Girl’s Kiss”

A Little Girl's Kiss

Isn’t the My Heart glossy specialty paper just gorgeous? When I got my hands on this paper, it got my brain flowing with ideas straight away.  Lots of subtle layering here, as I wanted the photo to stand out from the gorgeous papers.

Onto the second XO creation…a Valentine’s card of course! The collection name speaks for itself, so it’s a no brainer for me to make one.  Here’s my card:

“P.S. I Love You”

P.S. I Love You

The message in a clear bottle really added a gorgeous touch to this card.  I’ve simply trimmed the P.S. I love you from the XO sticker sheet, placed it inside the corked bottle, then twisted some mini rosebuds on the top.  The black heart at the bottom left of the card is simply the left over from the sticker sheet.  You know, the ones most of us don’t use & throw away.  Simply cut it out, & voila!

Thanks so much for dropping by.  Have a super week!

Cheers,

60

Hi there, thanks for dropping by my blog.  There’s a light rain today & it’s quite a nice bit of relief from the hot summer days we’ve been having the past days.  Perfect weather for getting crafty, so I created a card for a friend’s 60th birthday.  The big 60…hence why I made this card extra special.  I’m entering it for Cardabilities sketch#115:

115

I’m also entering this card for Berry71Bleu‘s lovely January challenge: “Things With Wings”.

“60”

I hope she likes it as much as I do, as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Enjoy your weekend!

Cheers,
