Autumn Birthday Card

May brings in our part of the world the beauty of Autumn and today I am sharing with you an Autumn inspired birthday card.  I just love the colours of this season and this has inspired me to create this card.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Franchville Neutrals Cardstock, Fundamentals Birthday Sentiment Stickers

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Antique Linen, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain, Foam Applicator

Other: Sizixx dies

First I have die cut the front of the card and then blended the Distress Ink colours onto a blending mat, giving it a good mix of colours.

With another white cardstock, die cut a few leaves and acorn, and shade them with different colours using the same variety of Distress inks.  Layer these onto the card with the acorn on top of all the leaves.

Adhere the Birthday Sentiment Sticker onto the remaining white cardstock and cut this out.  Lastly, adhere this onto the top of the card.

I had a blast creating this card and now it’s time for me to give this to someone special.  I hope you enjoyed our cardmaking month and all of the Francvhille, Fundamentals, and Ranger Distress Inkpads are available at your nearest Spotlight store.  You can also have a look at the full Ruby Rock-It Brands range HERE.

Petite Birthday Cards

May is card making month with Ruby Rock-It Brands and I’m starting it off with a quick and easy embossed background tutorial.  Here’s what you’ll need:

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Franchville Pastel Cardstock Set, Franchville White Mini Doilies, Fundamentals Gelato Sentiment Toppers

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Foam Applicator

Other materials: Big Shot, Embossing Sheet, Foam Flowers

Here’s a look at the set of Petite Birthday cards.  You can never have too many birthday cards ready in your stash.

Here’s a quick and easy step by step for an embossed background.  Note that for demonstration purposes I have used a white cardstock instead of the purple cardstock.  The finished cards pictured are inked with the Wilted Violet Distress Inkpad on the embossed background of the purple cardstock.

  1. Trim the Franchville Cardstock in half.  Choose your desired embossing background design and sandwich this inside your die cutting machine.
  2. Run this through the machine at least twice to ensure a good raised embossed finish.
  3. With the foam applicator, apply your desired color and shade this throughout the card working your way outwards in.  You can build up the colour as light or as dark as you want.
And there you have it, an easy and effective card backgound with color and texture. All that needs to be done now is to layer the inked doily, flowers, and sentiment on top of the card and voila!Check out all the Franchville and Fundamentals cardmaking range at the Ruby Rock-It Brands online store HERE, or at a Spotlight store near you.  I’ll be back for a new card this month and thank for popping in.

Easter Pillow Box Treats

Happy Easter everyone!  Today I’ve got some Glitzy Gold Easter pillow box treats to share with you.  I have also included a step by step tutorial on how to create an Easter tag with Fundamentals’ kraft tags and Ranger Distress Ink range.

Ruby Rock-It materials: Bella Glitzy Gold collection (Chevron, Bunting, Arrows), Fundamentals Small Circle Kraft Tags

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Brushed Corduroy, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso, Foam Applicator

Other materials: Tarnished Brass Distress Spray, Butterfly Punch, String, Easter Sentiment Stamp, White Cardstock

First I trimmed the Glitzy Gold papers to size and cut and scored them to a pillow box template.

I then folded the pillow boxes to shape and filled them with mini Easter chocolate eggs, sealing it well.

I then created the Fundamentals Kraft Tags and tied them to each pillow box to finish it off.

Here’s a quick and easy tutorial of the round kraft tags.  You will only need one foam applicator for this as we are shading the tags from the lightest to the darkest colour:

  1. With the Ranger Foam Applicator, apply the Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink onto the bottom of the Bella Small Round Kraft Tag, shading it halfway through.
  2. Using the same technique, apply the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink onto the top half of the tag.
  3. With the Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the same applicator, ink around the tag and then slightly shade it into the middle of the tag, combining the colours altogether.
  4. Dab the Ground Espresso Inkpad onto the Easter sentiment stamp, giving it full coverage.
  5. Stamp this onto the tag with good even pressure.
  6. With the Tarnished Brass Distress Spray, blob a couple of tiny splats onto the tag, then lightly spread the same ink around the tag with a small fine brush and let it dry.
  7. With a scrap piece of plain white cardstock, punch a small butterfly and then ink the edge with the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and foam applicator.  Adhere the inked butterfly onto the tag.

8. The best thing about the Fundamentals Tags is that they are all punched on top.  All that is left to do now is to run a thin piece of string through and tie these to the pillow boxes.

I just love the tasteful gold glitter throughout Bella’s Glitzy Gold collection.  Perfect and mess free.

Mix and match it with the Fundamentals’ kraft range and Ranger Distress Ink for a unique finish.

Hope you enjoyed my creation and easy tag tutorial.  Check out the full range of Bella Glitzy Gold collection HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.  Have an awesome Easter week!

A Little Bit Of Steampunk

Today I’m sharing a 21st birthday card with Bella’s Steamworks and Dapper mini themes with a feminine twist.  I had fun creating this card and I’m glad to say that the birthday girl loved it too.

Bella materials: Steamworks Mini Theme, Dapper Mini Theme, Fundamentals White Cardstock, Fundamentals Mini Pegs

Ranger Distress Ink: Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Ground Espresso, Foam Applicator

First I’ve cut the White Fundamentals cardstock into shape and ink the edges with Ranger’s Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, Ground Espresso and foam applicator.  I then layered the Segments and Invention paper on top, inking the edges with the Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

I then fussy cut an image off the Invention paper and a sentiment from the Segments paper and layered these on top of the card, securing the sentiment with a pink Fundamentals Mini Peg.

Inside I also made a pocket for a gift card, perfect for a 21st birthday gift.  I simply layered and inked the Segments, Bits & Bobs, and the Invention paper and voila.

A little touch of Steampunk together with the feminine shades of Distress Ink equals a unique birthday card.  Check out Bella’s Steamworks and Dapper Mini Themes HERE.  These are also available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you.

Moving House

Hi there.  Today I’ve got a mixed media layout to share with you and a simple step by step on how to add some punched shapes to your background.  I have combined both of Bella’s masculine mini theme ranges with Ranger Distress ink for a fun page.

Here’s how I added the ampersand shapes onto the background:

  1. With an ampersand puncher (I’ve used Fiskars), punch out 12 ampersands through the Steamworks Odds & Ends paper.
  2. Ink the edges of each ampersand with Ranger’s Black Soot Distress Inkpad and Foam Applicator.
  3. Position each ampersand onto the Dapper segments paper, surrounding the photo and then adhere.  Layer them on top of each other for a more interesting finish.

With extra hints of sunshine colours, here’s my finished page.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Dapper Mini Theme, Steamworks Mini Theme, Bella Gold Florals, Fundamentals Butterlfy Embellishments, Fundamentals Black on Alpha Stickers

Ranger Distress Ink materials: Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Wild Honey, Foam Applicator

I’ve added some pretty Gold Bella Florals and Fundamentals Butterflies, together with an old vine flower I’ve got from my stash for the cluster which I’ve inked with the Black Soot and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inkpads and applicators.

The Fundamentals Alpha Stickers make up the title and some extra shading has been applied onto the page with the Wild Honey and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  I just love this photo of my daughter and nephew when we moved to our new house.

Hope I’ve inspired you to create with Bella’s Mini Themes.  Check out all the awesome range HERE.  These are also available at a Spotlight store near you.

Snapper Up!

We’ve had some incredibly hot weather the past few weeks getting to the peak of summer.  We spent most of the school holidays near the water and today I’m sharing a mixed media layout with Bella’s Seaside collection.

I had a blast fishing in the absolutely amazing Coromandel and had to have a photo taken of my snapper.  I would definitely go back there for more great memories.  Here’s my layout:

Bella materials: Stripe Seaside Paper, Cut Outs Seaside Paper, Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Abandoned Coral, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, Foam Applicators

I wanted to bring out the colors of the snapper and get it to stand out, which led me to start with a blank canvas then layering Ranger’s Abandoned Coral and Salty Ocean Distress Ink on the page.  I then trimmed a piece off the Cut-Outs paper and layered this at the top of the page to mimic the ripples of the water.  For added texture, I stencilled some bubbles onto the page and let it dry completely.

I then layered some scraps from my stash and my photo on top, then adding the cluster with some fussy cut sentiment from the same paper, and some fishes from the Stripe paper.

For the title, I painted the Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers and then inked it with the same Distress Inkpads.  I then adhered this under the photo and added more shading throughout the page as I go along with the Distress Inkpads and Ranger Foam Applicators.

Thanks for popping in and I hope I’ve inspired you to create with Bella’s Seaside collection.  These are now available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you, ar at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE.

Now it’s time for me to cool off in the pool!

Red Gallery Candy Boxes

Happy February! This month has a focus on the day of hearts and today I’m sharing my little treats with you featuring Bella’s Red Gallery papers.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Red Gallery Papers (Apples, Petals, Distress), Fundamentals Sentiment Toppers (Spring, Neutral), Franchville Gold Foil Mini Doilies

I’ve trimmed each Red Gallery paper to different sizes and then cut them through my candy box punch.

I then tied one end of the box and then filled it up with some chocolate coated almonds.  After that I tied the other end to secure the candy boxes.

Next I chose a couple of the larger pieces to feature more layers and sentiment on the boxes.  For these, I added some pretty Franchville Gold Foiled Doilies, flowers, and Fundamentals Sentiment Toppers.

I also added a couple of leaves and stamens onto selected boxes and kept the smaller ones fairly simple by adding small flowers.

Here are a few more closer looks of the red candy boxes.

I hope you enjoyed my Red Gallery candy boxes, perfect little treats for Valentines Day.  This paper collection is now available at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, and at a Spotlight store near you.

Thanks for popping in and don’t forget to share the love.

Cheers,
