Fun Times Together

Hi there.  Today I’m sharing an Asian inspired layout for ITAAC (International Tournament of Art and Craft) 2017.  I love the rich colors and flowers of the orient, and I want these to convey in my layout.

Here is the Asia Challenge Board:

It should include at least one of the following elements

· Motifs inspired by mandalas

· Geometric shapes

· Tiles – ceramic, pantiles, glazed tiles, or their designs…

· Asiatic flowers, such as cherry blossom, chrysanthemum, orchids, lotus, Frangipani, lilies, hibiscus etc..

· Calligraphy or handwriting

· Fabric, faded or dyed

· Powdered pigments

I was inspired by the rich colors of the board and the flower.  My elements are geometric shapes, faded fabric, and powdered pigments.

Here’s my layout:

“Fun Times Together”

These Japanase kimonos (and ninja outfit) is gifted by family straight from her travels in Japan.  I love the beautiful oriental flowers, patterns and colors on them.

I’ve used some layers of faded fabric and splashes of 13Arts’ Rainbow Color Duo Powder (Navy Blue, Lilac), amongst other yummy 13Arts’ products:

Ayeeda Inks (Turquoise Glitter, Pink Glitter), Warm Gold Pearl Pigment, Glass Beads, Silver Glitter

I stamped and stencilled some geometric touches to the background, inspired by the red oriental shade and floral patterns.

I really love this photo of my girls, niece, and nephew altogether.  They have so much fun together and it’s so good to see.

I had fun creating this page and I hope you enjoyed my post today.  You can learn more about this exciting Asia challenge and be very inspired by ITAAC 2017 — HERE.

Cheers,

Fly, Be Fearless

Ruby Rock-It Brands and Ranger have teamed up to share some creative projects for the next couple of months.  Ranger has brought out a line of Mini Distress Ink Pad Sets, and today I’m sharing a mixed media layout with the Rusty Hinge, Victorian Velvet, Broken China, and Gathered Twigs set with the Mini Ink Blending Applicators.

I started with a plain white cardstock and came up with a fun and grungy mixed media page, featuring my youngest daughter.  Check her out…she always encourages me to fly, spread my wings, and be fearless!

“Fly, Be Fearless”

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Borderlines Bling, Blue Butterflies Bling, Gold Florals, Blue Florals, Pink Corrugated Cardstock, Raw & Rustic Clear Stamp Set, Faded Empire Clear Stamp Set, Bolt Clear Stamp Set, White Lettering On Kraft Alpha Sticker Set, Gelato Butterflies

First, I applied the Broken China and Gathered Twigs through some Scrapmatts Hexagon Stencil with the Ink Blending Applicator around the photo.  I then added some stamping with the Victorian Velvet, Rusty Hinge, and Gathered Twigs around the page.

The versatile Bella Borderlines Bling are then added for touches of texture and Bling around the page.  Some more texture has been added on top of these and some splattering of the Broken China and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

A cluster of Gold and Blue Bella Florals are then added beside the photo, along with some Fundamentals Gelato Butterflies and Kraft Alpha Stickers.  I also used these Alpha Stickers as a stencil, inked with the Victorian Velvet using the Ink Blending Tool/Applicator.  The Scrapmatts Hexagon Chipboards are inked with the Rusty Hinge.

The edges of the page are then inked with Victorian Velvet, Rusty Hinge, and Gathered Twigs using the Ink Blending Tool.  It’s finished off with the addition of drops, gold glitter, and a Blue Bella Butterfly Bling.

This layout is inspired by More Than Words’ September Fearless & Grunge Challenge:

Oh how fun it was to create this fearless grungy page! Thanks for popping in and I’ll be back for more Ranger Distress Ink-spiration soon.

Cheers,

Mata Hari Inspired Mixed Media Artboard

It’s time to reveal Canvas Corp Brands’ September Challenge which is inspired by the Mata Hari:

MATA HARI……Spy or not? This intriguing woman of Dutch origin remains a mystery. However, THIS October it will be exactly 100 years ago she was executed. Rightfully so? Maybe we will find out after all these years. Her oriental style, costumes, elaborate jewelry… Plenty to inspire you to create something about this woman and help us celebrate her throughout September.

Rules:

To enter this challenge you need to link up your entry  Blog post, or post on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest (link to the actual project – not the whole page) by using the linkytool at The Creative Studio HERE. You have until the end of October 5 to submit your project!  All submissions must have #ccbchallenge somewhere to be considered. One entry per person allowed.

We will invite the winner of the challenges to be our Guest Designer in November. This means that they will get a box filled with goodies from all 3 Canvas Corp Brands to play with.

Here’s my interpratation of the Mata Hari challenge:

“Architextures Mixed Media Artboard”

The Mata Hari in my eyes is every bit artistic, especially her style and the way she carries herself. These aspects have inspired me to create a mixed media Artboard with 7gypsies’ Architextures range. Touches of jewels, sparkle and golden shine adorn the artboard, much like the Mata Hari. Her statuesque presence is also the inspiration with the Weathered Statue which is the focal point of this piece.

For the instructions and full materials list of this Artboard, please head to the Creative Studio’s blog post HERE.

Delight Book Box

Hi everyone.  Today I’m sharing a fun off the page project which features one of my favourite Bella collections.  Can you guess which one it is?

Bella Materials: Raw & Rustic Papers (Bunting; Timberland; Sparkle), Watermelon Glittered Cardstock, Swirls and Flourish Bling, Gold Fabric Trim, Chocolate Fabric Trim, Gold Florals

I love the feather prints of the gorgeous Raw & Rustic collection, which is why I made it the cover of this book box.

I’ve added a subtle hint of sparkle at the right side with the help of Bella’s Watermelon Glittered Cardstock.  I’ve whitewashed the top of this glittered cardstock to give it a nice sanded look.

I’ve primed and painted the rest of the corners and sides of this book to match the colors of the Raw & Rustic collection.  All paints and mists are Tattered Angels paints.

This book box is filled with more Raw & Rustic feathery and pretty prints inside.

The muted watercolored stripes paper is very versatile and complemented the fresh feel of the feathers.

The Bella Trim added some softness inside the book box.

There’s heaps of fun feathers for fussy cutting to choose from the Raw & Rustic paper collection.

The Bella Florish and Swirls Bling added some pearly texture and prettiness to the cover.

The Gold Bella Florals and extra fussy cut feathers comprises the floral cluster, surrounded by some golden yellow color.  It’s topped off with a chipboard word which is from Scrapmatts, along with the chipboard rose inside and the fishing net stenciling on the cover.

I had so much fun creating this book box, which is now proudly owned by my eldest daughter.  She couldn’t wait to get her hands on this and it’s so good to see that she’s put it to good use.

Thanks for popping in and do check out the full range of fab Bella products HERE.

Cheers,

Dear Santa Christmas Card

Hi there and happy August to you! Do you know that there’s only 20 more weeks to go before Christmas?  This has got me started, gradually creating my Christmas cards.  This year I plan on making each card extra special, and today I get to share with you my 2017 Christmas Card #1:

Franchville materials: Metallic Card and Envelope Set

Bella Materials: Raspberry Glittered Cardstock, Black Flourish Bling, Black Bella Florals, True Love 3D Sticker Sheet, Round Buckle

Fundamentals Materials: White Lettering on Black Sticker Sheet

Other: Tattered Angels Paints and Mists

The White Metallic Franchville Card is the perfect base for this frosty feel Christmas card.  I’m also pleasantly surprised on how well it held amongst all the wet mediums I’ve layered on top.

For added glitz and color all in one, I’ve layered some of Bella’s gorgeous Raspberry Glittered Cardstock.  It’s such a lovely shade of pinkish red that’s not overly bright.

To perfect the color combination, I added a cluster of pretty Black Bella Florals on the middle of the card.  I then surrounded it with some more glitzy touches of Black Flourish Bling.

I also added some pieces from the True Love 3D Sticker Sheet amongst the florals, together with a Round Bella Buckle.

The numbers and alphas for the title is from Fundamentals’ Alphabet Sticker Sheet.  These are perfect little additions to any project and come in different sizes per pack.

It’s all finished off with lashings of Tattered Angels’ paints and mists around the red, black and white frosty Christmas card.

Thanks so much for popping in and I hope I’ve inspired you today.  Check out all the range of Bella, Fundamentals, and Franchville goodies HERE.

Cheers,

Hooray Mixed Media Card

Happy July to you! Today I’m excited to share with you my colorful mixed media celebration card with Franchville’s Bright Yellow Card and Bella’s Glittered Cardstock.

“Hooray, Big Day”

Franchville materials: Brights Card & Envelope Set

Bella materials: Glittered Cardstock (Watermelon; Black), White Florals, True Love 3D Sticker, Round Ribbon Buckle, Black Foiled Heart Seal, Raw & Rustic Stamp

I’ve die cut some pineapples with the Watermelon and Black Glittered Cardstock and layered them on top of each other.

Bright yellows remind me of fun pineapples, which is why I made the glittery layered pineapple the centrepiece of my card.  I then surrounded it with Bella Florals and topped with a dimensional blinged sentiment from the True Love 3D Sticker Sheet.

I’ve layered my painted background and added some texture with the versatile Raw & Rustic Stamp Set.  I’ve also painted the Bella Round Ribbon Buckle to match the Bright Yellow Franchville Card, tying the whole look together.  I finished it off with some sprinkling of fine glitter on top.

So there’s my glittery pineapple mixed media card, Bella style.  You can never have too many celebration cards in your stash just in case.  Thanks for popping and do check out the great range of Bella goodies HERE.

Cheers,

Telephone Box

Hello hello! How’s your weekend going so far?  I’ve been creating up a storm with Scrapmatts’ gorgeous Telephone Box (CB7012) chipboard set and I’m so excited to share it with you.  Grab a cuppa and I’ll walk you through my telephone booth.

Does it seem familiar to you? If it is, then you must be a Dr. Who fan!  It’s very much inspired by the infamous Tardis.  It may not be labeled as “Police Box”, but the colors and elements on this telephone booth are all Tardis inspired.

Scrapmatts Chipboards: Telephone Box 01 (CB7012), Telephone Dial (CB5115), Circles 02 (CB5152), Sticks 02 (CB5153), Gears 03 (CB1075)

Scrapmatts Stencil: Bubbles (ST5001)

I like how the door is actually designed to open, and the hinges are actually provided for you.

I’ve painted all chipboard parts with Tattered Angels’ Navy High Impact Paint, then added layers of Tattered Angels Chalk and Splash Chalkboard Mists, Pearl Glimmer Mist and other mediums to add some contrasting blue color and texture.  Check out the great range of Tattered Angels Paints HERE.

I’ve added some Gears chipboard on some sides of the telephone booth, keeping to the Tardis theme.

At the back I’ve stenciled some black gesso to the Bubbles Stencil to surround the awesome Circles and Gears chipboards.

I went for a mechanical galaxy look and feel throughout the telephone booth, as I’ve mentioned having Dr. Who’s Tardis as the main inspiration.

You may wonder, where is the top cover of this telephone booth? This gorgeous set of chipboard actually does not come with a top cover, because it comes with 4 chipboard tags that you can easily slip in and out from the opening.

In this project I’ve used 3 instead of 4 chipboard tags, which means I’ve got a spare tag left for creating.  These tags are also available to purchase separately from the Scrapmatts shop.

I’ve trimmed 2 of the tags smaller to get different lengths, and used the same paint to color the base of the chipboards tags.

Scrapmatts Chipboards: String Circles 07 (CB4071), Sticks 02 (CB5153), Burnt Cream Scrap Words 24 (CB1238)

Scrapmatts Stencil: Splatter (ST5010), Circle Stains (ST5009), Paint Drips (ST1009)

I then added some stains and drips stenciling on each tag to go with the masculine colors and theme.

The String Circles chipboards enhanced the tags’ galaxy theme, along with the versatile Sticks chipboard.  The Burnt Cream Scrap Words were the perfect finishing touch to the each tag, and some extra splattering on top. I just couldn’t resist :).

How good do the tags look inside the telephone booth?

I really enjoyed creating this Tardis inspired Telephone booth…it’s masculine, mechanical and galaxy theme altogether with splashes of bright color.  It also gave me a wee break from using flowers and I always feel a crafty accomplishment whenever I create a masculine project.

Now I’m ready to give this to my friend who absolutely looooooves Dr. Who.  I hope she likes it as much as I do.  The show has such a clever idea of having a police box that transports you in different places and time.

Thanks for popping in and I hope you enjoyed looking through my Tardis inspired Telephone Booth.  Check out the selection of Scrapmatts chipboards and stencils HERE.

Cheers,
