Nostalgic Treasures Christmas Cards

Merry Christmas everyone! It felt that Christmas has come so quickly this year.  To celebrate this holiday season, I have two Christmas cards to share with you.  It features the lovely Nostalgic Treasures collection from Crafters Choice.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Nostalgic Treasures 12×12 Paper Pad, Crafters Choice Gold A4 Luxury Cardstock Set, Bella Gold Florals, Fundamentals White Cardstock, Franchville Metallic Cardstock Set, Crafters Choice Bling (Clear & Metallic Gold Droplets; 2mm Bling Red/Green/Clear/Metallic Gold; Red & Green Rhinestone Sheet; 3mm Bling Clear & Metallic Gold)

Ranger Distress Ink materials: Candied Apple, Pine Needles, Foam Applicator

Other: nesting dies, foam tape, mini flowers

As soon as I saw the gorgeous birds from the Nostalgic Treasures Paper Pad, I knew I have to show them off in a couple of special Christmas cards.  I am really drawn to birds lately and I hear them everyday.  I love the beautiful sound of the birds in our yard every morning and throughout the day.  My youngest daughter even made a nest for the birds in one of our trees so they are well looked after, how cute.

For a lovely festive feel, I have added some layers of shiny mirror, matt mirror, and white metallic pearl cardstock on the cards.  Nothing says luxury more than gold and the Crafters Choice Gold Cardstock set is just divine.  The gorgeous pearly white sheen on the Franchville Cardstock also elevated the look of the cards.

I have die cut the cardstock and paper layers, and then inked the edges of the metallic pearl cardstock and papers with the Ranger Candied Apple Distress Inkpad and foam applicator.  The Candied Apple shade is a great match to the red colours of the Nostalgic Treasures collection.  I then added some subtle shading of the Pine Needles Distress Ink onto the white cardstock base of the cards.

For the cluster, I’ve fussy cut some leaves from the paper pad and added these by the birds along with some Gold Bella Florals and some mini flowers from my stash.  To finish it off, I added some gorgeous Crafters Choice Bling onto the frames of the cards.  The little red and green diamond bling on the frames are trimmed from the Rhinestone Sheets.  And how cute are the Droplets Bling? They are so versatile and look like mini watermelon seeds which come in different colours.  All bling sets from Crafters Choice go a long way, always great to have in your craft stash.  You never know when you need some pretty bling.

For another special touch, these festive cards can also stand up.  It is simple to make and  here’s a quick step by step of how to create the base of the stand up card.

  1. Trim the White Fundamentals Cardstock to 4″ wide.
  2.  Fold this in half with a bone folder.
  3.  Open the card and fold the top 2 1/4″ with a bone folder as pictured.
  4.  For my cards, I have inked the edges with the Pine Needle Ranger Distress Inkpad and foam applicator.  This also shows you a clear image on where the folds are.  The folded measurement at the bottom front of my cards are 2 1/4″ x 4″.  You can adjust the size accordingly to suit your card.
  5.  Trim your choice of cardstock into 1 1/4″ x 3 1/2″.  This will go inside the card that will help the front stand up.  For illustration purposes I have used white cardstock.  For my festive cards I have die cut some Gold Matt Mirror Cardstock and then layered some Nostalgic Treasures paper strips/gold foiled sentiment on top.  You can adjust this measurement slightly smaller or larger to suit what you need, and as long as this cannot be seen outside of the card.
  6.  Adhere this onto bottom of the card inside as pictured with some foam tape.  Make sure you do use foam tape as you need this dimension to make the card stand up.
  7.  Last is the fun part, which is to create the front design of your card.  Once this step is done, generously apply some adhesive onto the bottom fold of the front of the card only.  Align the bottom of the decorated front onto the bottom fold and adhere together, pressing onto it for a few seconds then let dry completely.

And that is the last card share for this year.  I have thouroughly enjoyed creating this year and sharing them all with you.  Life is always so busy and creating has always been my “me time” and sanity.  Thanks for joining me in my creative journey and I hope to give you more inspiration moving forward.

Rose Gold Christmas Cards

Crafters Choice have a couple of exciting new Christmas range and today I get to share with you a set of fun rose gold Chrismas cards.  These are not hard to make and below I’ll show you an easy trick for adding texture on the glittered rose gold card.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Crafters Choice Rose Gold Luxury A4 Cardstock, Festive Pop Die Cut Pack, Festive Pop Sticker Booklet, Champagne Bling, Fundamentals Metallic Cardstock Set

Other: letter punch, embossing pad and powder

The Crafters Choice Rose Gold Luxury Cardstock set is just divine and I love the variety of sheen, glitz, gloss of each sheet.  The shiny Metallic sheet worked a treat for the large letter joy title on the cards, and it’s gorgeously shiny!

The copper card base is from the Franchville Metallic Cardstock set which has a nice subtle glittery finish, coordinating perfectly with the pretty rose gold cardstock.

Trimmed sheets of the Matte and Glittered Rose Gold cards from the Luxury Cardstock set are then layered on top of the cards.  Some texture is then added to the background of the glittered cardstock.

Here’s a quick step by step on how to create an easy textured look on the rose gold glittered cardstock:

  1. Trim the glittered cardstock to size.
  2. Roughly run an embossing pad through the top of the card.
  3.  On a clean and dry sheet of paper, generously sprinkle a two tone embossing powder on top of the whole card.  Use a color that matches/accentuates the color scheme of the cards, in this case I used aged copper shade to compliment the rose gold and copper tones.
  4. Gently tap the excess off and put the rest of embossing powder back into its container.   Seal the powder container well once done with this step to prevent any spillages and messy clean ups.
  5. Heat emboss the powder with a heat embossing gun until all the powder on the surface melts.  Take care not to burn your hand, working slowly around the card.
  6.  Let it cool for a minute or two and it is done, such a cool effect with little effort.  It’s fun adding a layer of background onto the rose gold cardstock.

The adorable pieces from the Festive Pop Die Cut Pack are then added on top of the title, along with the sentiments from the Festive Pop Sticker Sheet which have an awesome holographic effect.  It’s all finished off with some pretty Crafters Choice Champagne Bling.

So there’s my easy rose gold Christmas cards.  They were fun to create and I got them done in no time.  I hope I have inspired you to create with the Crafters Choice Luxury Cardstock Set and Festive Pop collection.  These are available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you.  I’ll be back for more Festive pop inspiration soon.

Cheers,

So Blue Baby Boy Layout

Having a new baby boy makes me happy in many ways.  He is a great addition to our family so my husband is not surrounded by girls all the time, and now I can scrapbook for boys more.  Time to share a blue baby boy layout which features Bella’s  So Blue paper collection.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella! So Blue collection, Faded Empire Alphabet Chipboard, Bella Florals (White, Black, Silver), Blue Mini Bella Florals, Bella Blue Butterflies, Crafters Choice Mini Hue Silver Bling, Crafters Choice Bling Rhinestone Sheet (Blue, Black, Aqua, Gold), Fundamentals Black on Kraft Alpha Sticker Sheet, Bella Distressing Tool

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Chipped Sapphire, Broken China, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey, Scattered Straw, Antique Linen, Weathered Wood, Hickery Smoke, Black Soot, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: white cardstock, black ribbon, coloured mists

With the Bella Distressing Tool, I have distressed the edges of a white cardstock.  I then inked the edges with the Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and Ranger Foam Applicator.  This is then adhered onto the Reflections paper, having the pretty bokeh print peeking through.

Next I positioned the Faded Empire Alpha Chipboard at the bottom of the page and spritzed a deep blue mist onto it, using these as a stencil.  Remove the alpha chipboards and wipe this clean gently with a baby wipe for future use.

I have fussy cut the night sky and scallop scales from the Cut-Ups paper and adhered this close to the photo.  I then added a cluster of Bella Florals and Bella Butterflies onto the page.  I have also framed the picture with some trimmed blue and black Crafters Choice Bling Rhinestone Sheets, altogether with the Bella Florals packaging.  I finished it all off by spritzing some light yellow mist and blending a mix of Ranger Distress Inks (see materials list above), and some bits of bling adhered around the page.

There is a variety of ways on how I like to blend colours to my layouts.  I will show you one of the easiest way which is perfect for working onto slim areas and edges.

  1. Gather your distress inkpads and foam refills.
  2. Without attaching the foam onto the applicator, apply the colour onto the foam concentrating in the middle.
  3. Blend this onto the edges, nooks, and crannies of the page.  I find this easier and more user friendly for blending slim areas compared to some sponge daubers or when foam is attached to the applicator.   This will also give you more control on how much or how little colour you want to add onto tight spaces.

I hope you find this easy tip useful for your next distress ink colour blending project.  The versatile So Blue collection is now available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you or at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, amongst the rest of the materials listed above.

Thanks for popping in.  I’ll be back with a gorgeous new Bella range, yay!

Cheers,

Written In The Stars

Every end of September I get older and wiser, and now that I have hit just over my mid-thirties I am ever so thankful and really happy with my life.  This has inspired me to scrap with some gorgeous papers and my favourite photo of my children to mark this milestone.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Blush Collection, Crafters Choice Spiral Flourish Clear Bling, Crafters Choice Clear Square Bling, Bella Distresser Tool

Ranger Distress Ink: Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, Victorian Velvet, Ranger Foam Applicator

Other: white cardstock, flowers, trims, mists

How gorgeous is the Bella Blush collection? It has a beautiful pink pallete and is great for any paperpcraft beyond wedding creations. The Quarters paper have some sentiments and images perfect for fussy cutting and layering, that has worked a treat for my title.

The sequin print of the Sparkle paper adds a touch of sparkly frame around the picture.  I have distressed this with the Bella Distresser Tool which I practically use all the time.  Having it this way also gave it a subtle sequin effect, without having to add actual sequins.

The Crafters Choice Spiral Flourish Bling are perfect for adding background texture, flourishing outwards the photo.  This is also a good alternative from a cluster for a flatter finish.

The Crafters Choice Clear Bling Squares gave a pretty starry addition which ties the page altogether.  I love how this bling come in small, medium, and large squares.  One can never have too much bling I say.  I then blended the Weathered Wood, Hickory Smoke, and Victorian Velvet Ranger Distress Inkpads onto the page with the Ranger Foam applicator to finish it off.

As I started creating this page, I cannot decide which side of the Floral paper to use.  In the end I decided to use both sides.  Here’s a quick step by step:

  1. Roughly tear the Foral paper in a slant as shown below.
  2. Fold and curl the torn side of the paper.  The floral print on the top, and the pink concrete print at the bottom.
  3. Ink all sides/edges of the papers with the Hickory Smoke Ranger Distress Ink and Foam Applictor.
  4. Adhere these onto a white cardstock and voila. Now both sides of the Floral paper are on the page.

Check out the full Bella Blush collection on the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, and it is also available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you.

Thanks for popping and I hope I have inspired you to scrapbook your milestones with the Blush collection.  You will love these papers as much I do.

Cheers,

Pink Lady Gratitude Book

This September we have some gorgeous pink collections to show off with Ruby Rock-It Brands.  Today I am sharing a little gratitude notebook which I have created for my daughter who absolutely loves everything pink and sparkles of bling.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Pink Lady papers (Feathers; Montage), Crafters Choice Bling (Pink 2mm; Pink 6-10mm; Mini Hue Pink 2-5mm; Adhesive Rhinestone Letters)

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: coloured mists, texture paste, leftover ribbons/trims

I covered a plain hardbound notebook with the Feathers paper and then roughly added some texture paste, letting this air dry for a couple of hours.

I added some trim on the left side of the notebook and some trimmed print from the Montage paper on the right edges.  I then layered the fussy cut heart balloons from the same paper on the center amongst some scrap ribbons and Adhesive Rhinestone Letters for the title.

I then shaded and blended the Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Inkpads with the Ranger Foam Applicators to match the Pink Lady papers.  I finished it off by adding some pink Crafters Choice Bling and spritzing of mists on top.

My daughter loves this notebook and everyday she writes down everything that she is thankful for.  I love passing on my daily ritual to her, getting her into the habit of appreciating what she has in life and writing them down.

Check out the full range of Bella collections and more online HERE, or at a Spotlight store near you.  I’ll be back soon with another gorgeous pink Bella collection.

Having A Blast

As promised I am back with a fun new Bella Superhero project to share which is a mixed media layout showcasing my daughters having an awesome time.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Superhero collection, Crafters Choice Bling (Adhesive Rhinestone Letters; Red Hearts, Gold Metallic Bubbles, Mini Hue Gold), Bella Distressing Tool, Fundamentals White Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, Black Soot, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: flowers, heart punch, string, coloured mists

As soon as I saw the Superhero Splat paper, I knew it was the perfect base for my next scrapbook page and the photo to go with it.  Perfect for both boys and girls.  I will always be inspired and never get tired scrapbooking those infectious smiles.

How cool are the puffed clouds from the Collage paper? I could not resist adding these to the page, surrounding the photo nicely.

There are plenty of words and sentiments from the Jigsaw paper to choose from which I have added to the page together with Crafters Choice gorgeous Adhesive Rhinestone Letters Bling, which come in a couple of colours and sizes.

For some girly touches, I added some flowers, punched hearts, and Crafters Choice Red Hearts Bling.  I finished it off with some inking and just a few more touches of Crafters Choice Metallic Gold Bling Bubbles and Mini Hue Gold Bling.

I have a quick and easy tutorial on how I created the circle background.  All you need is the Splat paper, a 195mm lightweight bowl, and a black or very dark blue mist.

  1. Lay the Splat paper flat on your working surface and position the bowl right on the middle of the page.
  2. Mist around the bowl and let this air dry.  You can add a big mat, big scrap paper, or newspaper underneath to keep your surface clean.
  3. Here is the finished result.  Do not touch the bowl to keep in the same position for a perfect circle.  You can add as little or as much as you want, and you can experiment with a different colour.

Remember there are no mistakes in scrapbooking, and most importantly, have fun through each process.  Check out the full range of Bella collections at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, or at a Spotlight store near you.  There is a good selection for everyone among the Superhero collection.

Thanks for popping in and I hope you enjoyed my Superhero post and tutorial.  Stay tuned for more beautiful new Bella collections next month.

Cheers,

Super Dad Card

Next month is the month to celebrate dad’s day in Australasia and today I’ve got a Father’s day card to share with you.  It has the awesome new Bella Superhero collection, one of my favourite boy collections so far.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Superhero collection, Crafters Choice Bling Mini Hue Red, Crafters Choice Bling Mini Hue Blue, Fundamentals White Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: heart punch, stencil, mists

First I have fussy cut the sentiment from the Jigsaw paper.  With the same paper on the opposite side, I trimmed this down to size as the base for my card.  This will give both the front and back of the card a fun color and print as opposed to a plain backed card.  I then trimmed a Fundamentals White Cardstock to size and adhered this inside the card for writing, covering all the print from the Superhero paper.

Next I stenciled the Ranger Weathered Wood and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks on the front of the card combined with coloured mists and let this dry.  I then punched some hearts from the same paper and layered these and the sentiment onto the card along with some gorgeous Crafter Choice red and blue bling and voila! Superhero dad card done.

Here’s a preview of the Superhero collection.  This is available to purchase at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.  Perfect for all dad’s day projects.

No photo description available.

Thanks for popping in and I will be back for another Superhero project soon, I am really excited about this one so stay tuned.

Wanderlust Mini Album

Hi there.  Today I have a mini album to share with you featuring Bella’s Wanderlust collection.  It is the perfect travel collection and is versatile for any projects.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Wanderlust collection, Crafters Choice Metallic Silver Bling, Crafters Choice Metallic Gold Bling Stars

Rangers Distress Inkpads: Evergreen Bough, Aged Mahogany, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: White Cardstock, Stencils, Tattered Angels Mist

The 2mm Metallic Silver Crafters Choice Bling is perfect for adding the look of mini studs on the front cover.  It also gave the album cover some interest and texture.

Now let’s have a look inside the album:

I have trimmed the white cardstock to size and assembled it for the base of the mini album.

Next I shaded the edges of each page with the Distress Inkpads (see materials list above) and Ranger foam applicators.

I then stencilled the front and some of the inside pages, sticking to the same colours of Distress Ink.

Next I added some lashings of coloured spritz on selected pages, leaving some of them blank for more spaces to add photos.  After all, I want to squeeze in as much memories as I can into this album.

I then trimmed and fussy cut some words, strips, sentiments, tags, and pieces from the awesome Wanderlust papers and adhered these all over the album.

For the last page, I added a little pocket for storing little keepsakes like tags, tickets and memorabilia.  A fun little touch to finish the Wanderlust album.

I am really pleased on how this mini album turned out.  Now  I just need to get the photos printed and added which will make the album look even better.

Thanks for popping in and I hope I have inspired you to create with  Bella’s Wanderlust collection.  You will love it as much as I do.  These are available to purchase at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, or at a Spotlight store near you.

Pink & Purple Shabby Tags

July is a very exciting month for the Ruby Rock-It Brands team as we get to showcase gorgeous and fun new collections.  Today I have a couple of tags to share with you which features two of Bella’s new collections.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Purple Haze collection, #Selfie Queen collection, Crafters Choice Bling (Adhesive Rhinestone Letters; Iridescent Clear, Iridescent Blue, Iridescent Purple, Iridescent Pink), Fundamentals White Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: heart punch, mists, flowers, ribbons

Me and my daughters are bookworms especially my eldest, so I decided to make them some pretty initial tags with some bling.  Crafters Choice have the perfect range of adhesive rhinestone bling that are very easy to apply onto projects.

For my eldest daughter she gets the gorgeous Bella Purple Haze collection with Crafters Choice Clear Iridescent Bling and shabby finish.

For my youngest daughter she gets the fun Bella #Selfie Queen collection with an assortment of Iridescent Pink, Purple, and Blue Crafters Choice Bling.

Both tags have the Fundamentals Cardstodck for a strong and sturdy base for layered papers, inks, and paints.

I have blended the Ranger Distress Inks (see materials list above) onto to tags to match with the colours of each colllection with the Ranger Foam Applicators.

Here’s a quick tip of adding a frosted look to the Rhinestone Letter:

  1. Gather the Crafters Choice Adhesive Rhinestone Letter, a fine paintbrush, and a chalk mist.
  2. On a clean working surface, place the Rhinestone Letter on its original sheet.  Uncap the chalk mist and lightly dip the fine paintbrush, then brush this onto the whole surface of the rhinestone letter.
  3. Add as little or as much chalk mist onto the letter and let this air dry.  Do not apply heat as this will damage the letter.  This now gives the letter a different frosted finish.

I hope you enjoyed looking through the fab new Bella collections and gorgeous range of Crafters Choice bling .  These are all available to purchase on the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.

I’ll be back soon for another awesome new collection and thanks for popping in.

Cheers,

Rockin’ The Moko

I have been itching to do some scrapbooking lately and thanks to my daughter she has given me the perfect photo for some fun scrapping.  I have mixed and matched Bella’s Graduation Mini Theme, Glittered Papers, and Ranger Distress Inkpads.

Bella materials: Graduation Mini Theme (Convocation, Fractions), Black Glittered Cardstock, Frosted Glittered Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Salty Ocean, Broken China, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, Foam Applicators

Other: Alphabet Punch, Star and Flower Punch, Flowers, Tattered Angels Mists

First I have inked some stripes with the Salty Ocean, Broken China, Black Soot, and Weathered Wood Distress inks and foam applicator from the Convocation paper.  I then folded the edges of this paper and adhered this onto a white cardstock, blending the same colours around the edges.

I then framed the photo with Bella’s Frosted Glitter Cardstock and adhered this onto the page with some dimensional tape.  Some more Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Chipped Sapphire ink has been blended around for some extra pop of colour.

For the title, I punched the alphas with Bella’s Black Glittered Cardstock and adhered them under the photo.  I have fussy cut a word out of the Fractions paper and surrounded this with a small cluster amogst the title.

As for the finishing touches, I have punched some stars and flowers to add to the page and some extra spritzing and splats of mists throughout.

Here’s how I did the big black splats:

  1. Get your black mist and straw ready.  Put a decent blob of black ink on the paper.
  2. Hold the straw and blow on the ink until it spreads out to a splat and let dry.

I am so glad to have a memory of my daughter with her Kapa Haka participation at school which she really enjoys.  This is just one of the many reasons why I love to scrapbook.

Bella Mini Themes are so versatile for any crafting themes, and these are available at a Spotlight store near you or online HERE.  Thanks for popping in.

Cheers,
