So Blue Baby Boy Layout

Having a new baby boy makes me happy in many ways.  He is a great addition to our family so my husband is not surrounded by girls all the time, and now I can scrapbook for boys more.  Time to share a blue baby boy layout which features Bella’s  So Blue paper collection.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella! So Blue collection, Faded Empire Alphabet Chipboard, Bella Florals (White, Black, Silver), Blue Mini Bella Florals, Bella Blue Butterflies, Crafters Choice Mini Hue Silver Bling, Crafters Choice Bling Rhinestone Sheet (Blue, Black, Aqua, Gold), Fundamentals Black on Kraft Alpha Sticker Sheet, Bella Distressing Tool

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Chipped Sapphire, Broken China, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey, Scattered Straw, Antique Linen, Weathered Wood, Hickery Smoke, Black Soot, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: white cardstock, black ribbon, coloured mists

With the Bella Distressing Tool, I have distressed the edges of a white cardstock.  I then inked the edges with the Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and Ranger Foam Applicator.  This is then adhered onto the Reflections paper, having the pretty bokeh print peeking through.

Next I positioned the Faded Empire Alpha Chipboard at the bottom of the page and spritzed a deep blue mist onto it, using these as a stencil.  Remove the alpha chipboards and wipe this clean gently with a baby wipe for future use.

I have fussy cut the night sky and scallop scales from the Cut-Ups paper and adhered this close to the photo.  I then added a cluster of Bella Florals and Bella Butterflies onto the page.  I have also framed the picture with some trimmed blue and black Crafters Choice Bling Rhinestone Sheets, altogether with the Bella Florals packaging.  I finished it all off by spritzing some light yellow mist and blending a mix of Ranger Distress Inks (see materials list above), and some bits of bling adhered around the page.

There is a variety of ways on how I like to blend colours to my layouts.  I will show you one of the easiest way which is perfect for working onto slim areas and edges.

  1. Gather your distress inkpads and foam refills.
  2. Without attaching the foam onto the applicator, apply the colour onto the foam concentrating in the middle.
  3. Blend this onto the edges, nooks, and crannies of the page.  I find this easier and more user friendly for blending slim areas compared to some sponge daubers or when foam is attached to the applicator.   This will also give you more control on how much or how little colour you want to add onto tight spaces.

I hope you find this easy tip useful for your next distress ink colour blending project.  The versatile So Blue collection is now available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you or at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, amongst the rest of the materials listed above.

Thanks for popping in.  I’ll be back with a gorgeous new Bella range, yay!

Cheers,

Super Dad Card

Next month is the month to celebrate dad’s day in Australasia and today I’ve got a Father’s day card to share with you.  It has the awesome new Bella Superhero collection, one of my favourite boy collections so far.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Superhero collection, Crafters Choice Bling Mini Hue Red, Crafters Choice Bling Mini Hue Blue, Fundamentals White Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: heart punch, stencil, mists

First I have fussy cut the sentiment from the Jigsaw paper.  With the same paper on the opposite side, I trimmed this down to size as the base for my card.  This will give both the front and back of the card a fun color and print as opposed to a plain backed card.  I then trimmed a Fundamentals White Cardstock to size and adhered this inside the card for writing, covering all the print from the Superhero paper.

Next I stenciled the Ranger Weathered Wood and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks on the front of the card combined with coloured mists and let this dry.  I then punched some hearts from the same paper and layered these and the sentiment onto the card along with some gorgeous Crafter Choice red and blue bling and voila! Superhero dad card done.

Here’s a preview of the Superhero collection.  This is available to purchase at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.  Perfect for all dad’s day projects.

No photo description available.

Thanks for popping in and I will be back for another Superhero project soon, I am really excited about this one so stay tuned.

Cheers,

Pink & Purple Shabby Tags

July is a very exciting month for the Ruby Rock-It Brands team as we get to showcase gorgeous and fun new collections.  Today I have a couple of tags to share with you which features two of Bella’s new collections.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Purple Haze collection, #Selfie Queen collection, Crafters Choice Bling (Adhesive Rhinestone Letters; Iridescent Clear, Iridescent Blue, Iridescent Purple, Iridescent Pink), Fundamentals White Cardstock

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves, Ranger Foam Applicators

Other: heart punch, mists, flowers, ribbons

Me and my daughters are bookworms especially my eldest, so I decided to make them some pretty initial tags with some bling.  Crafters Choice have the perfect range of adhesive rhinestone bling that are very easy to apply onto projects.

For my eldest daughter she gets the gorgeous Bella Purple Haze collection with Crafters Choice Clear Iridescent Bling and shabby finish.

For my youngest daughter she gets the fun Bella #Selfie Queen collection with an assortment of Iridescent Pink, Purple, and Blue Crafters Choice Bling.

Both tags have the Fundamentals Cardstodck for a strong and sturdy base for layered papers, inks, and paints.

I have blended the Ranger Distress Inks (see materials list above) onto to tags to match with the colours of each colllection with the Ranger Foam Applicators.

Here’s a quick tip of adding a frosted look to the Rhinestone Letter:

  1. Gather the Crafters Choice Adhesive Rhinestone Letter, a fine paintbrush, and a chalk mist.
  2. On a clean working surface, place the Rhinestone Letter on its original sheet.  Uncap the chalk mist and lightly dip the fine paintbrush, then brush this onto the whole surface of the rhinestone letter.
  3. Add as little or as much chalk mist onto the letter and let this air dry.  Do not apply heat as this will damage the letter.  This now gives the letter a different frosted finish.

I hope you enjoyed looking through the fab new Bella collections and gorgeous range of Crafters Choice bling .  These are all available to purchase on the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.

I’ll be back soon for another awesome new collection and thanks for popping in.

Autumn Birthday Card

May brings in our part of the world the beauty of Autumn and today I am sharing with you an Autumn inspired birthday card.  I just love the colours of this season and this has inspired me to create this card.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Franchville Neutrals Cardstock, Fundamentals Birthday Sentiment Stickers

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Antique Linen, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain, Foam Applicator

Other: Sizixx dies

First I have die cut the front of the card and then blended the Distress Ink colours onto a blending mat, giving it a good mix of colours.

With another white cardstock, die cut a few leaves and acorn, and shade them with different colours using the same variety of Distress inks.  Layer these onto the card with the acorn on top of all the leaves.

Adhere the Birthday Sentiment Sticker onto the remaining white cardstock and cut this out.  Lastly, adhere this onto the top of the card.

I had a blast creating this card and now it’s time for me to give this to someone special.  I hope you enjoyed our cardmaking month and all of the Francvhille, Fundamentals, and Ranger Distress Inkpads are available at your nearest Spotlight store.  You can also have a look at the full Ruby Rock-It Brands range HERE.

Easter Pillow Box Treats

Happy Easter everyone!  Today I’ve got some Glitzy Gold Easter pillow box treats to share with you.  I have also included a step by step tutorial on how to create an Easter tag with Fundamentals’ kraft tags and Ranger Distress Ink range.

Ruby Rock-It materials: Bella Glitzy Gold collection (Chevron, Bunting, Arrows), Fundamentals Small Circle Kraft Tags

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Brushed Corduroy, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso, Foam Applicator

Other materials: Tarnished Brass Distress Spray, Butterfly Punch, String, Easter Sentiment Stamp, White Cardstock

First I trimmed the Glitzy Gold papers to size and cut and scored them to a pillow box template.

I then folded the pillow boxes to shape and filled them with mini Easter chocolate eggs, sealing it well.

I then created the Fundamentals Kraft Tags and tied them to each pillow box to finish it off.

Here’s a quick and easy tutorial of the round kraft tags.  You will only need one foam applicator for this as we are shading the tags from the lightest to the darkest colour:

  1. With the Ranger Foam Applicator, apply the Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink onto the bottom of the Bella Small Round Kraft Tag, shading it halfway through.
  2. Using the same technique, apply the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink onto the top half of the tag.
  3. With the Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the same applicator, ink around the tag and then slightly shade it into the middle of the tag, combining the colours altogether.
  4. Dab the Ground Espresso Inkpad onto the Easter sentiment stamp, giving it full coverage.
  5. Stamp this onto the tag with good even pressure.
  6. With the Tarnished Brass Distress Spray, blob a couple of tiny splats onto the tag, then lightly spread the same ink around the tag with a small fine brush and let it dry.
  7. With a scrap piece of plain white cardstock, punch a small butterfly and then ink the edge with the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and foam applicator.  Adhere the inked butterfly onto the tag.

8. The best thing about the Fundamentals Tags is that they are all punched on top.  All that is left to do now is to run a thin piece of string through and tie these to the pillow boxes.

I just love the tasteful gold glitter throughout Bella’s Glitzy Gold collection.  Perfect and mess free.

Mix and match it with the Fundamentals’ kraft range and Ranger Distress Ink for a unique finish.

Hope you enjoyed my creation and easy tag tutorial.  Check out the full range of Bella Glitzy Gold collection HERE or at a Spotlight store near you.  Have an awesome Easter week!

Moving House

Hi there.  Today I’ve got a mixed media layout to share with you and a simple step by step on how to add some punched shapes to your background.  I have combined both of Bella’s masculine mini theme ranges with Ranger Distress ink for a fun page.

Here’s how I added the ampersand shapes onto the background:

  1. With an ampersand puncher (I’ve used Fiskars), punch out 12 ampersands through the Steamworks Odds & Ends paper.
  2. Ink the edges of each ampersand with Ranger’s Black Soot Distress Inkpad and Foam Applicator.
  3. Position each ampersand onto the Dapper segments paper, surrounding the photo and then adhere.  Layer them on top of each other for a more interesting finish.

With extra hints of sunshine colours, here’s my finished page.

Design Team CS

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Dapper Mini Theme, Steamworks Mini Theme, Bella Gold Florals, Fundamentals Butterlfy Embellishments, Fundamentals Black on Alpha Stickers

Ranger Distress Ink materials: Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Wild Honey, Foam Applicator

I’ve added some pretty Gold Bella Florals and Fundamentals Butterflies, together with an old vine flower I’ve got from my stash for the cluster which I’ve inked with the Black Soot and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inkpads and applicators.

The Fundamentals Alpha Stickers make up the title and some extra shading has been applied onto the page with the Wild Honey and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  I just love this photo of my daughter and nephew when we moved to our new house.

Hope I’ve inspired you to create with Bella’s Mini Themes.  Check out all the awesome range HERE.  These are also available at a Spotlight store near you.

Red Gallery Candy Boxes

Happy February! This month has a focus on the day of hearts and today I’m sharing my little treats with you featuring Bella’s Red Gallery papers.

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Bella Red Gallery Papers (Apples, Petals, Distress), Fundamentals Sentiment Toppers (Spring, Neutral), Franchville Gold Foil Mini Doilies

I’ve trimmed each Red Gallery paper to different sizes and then cut them through my candy box punch.

I then tied one end of the box and then filled it up with some chocolate coated almonds.  After that I tied the other end to secure the candy boxes.

Next I chose a couple of the larger pieces to feature more layers and sentiment on the boxes.  For these, I added some pretty Franchville Gold Foiled Doilies, flowers, and Fundamentals Sentiment Toppers.

I also added a couple of leaves and stamens onto selected boxes and kept the smaller ones fairly simple by adding small flowers.

Here are a few more closer looks of the red candy boxes.

I hope you enjoyed my Red Gallery candy boxes, perfect little treats for Valentines Day.  This paper collection is now available at the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE, and at a Spotlight store near you.

Thanks for popping in and don’t forget to share the love.

Bella Botanical Bloom

Spring has sprung in New Zealand and the sunnier weather has inspired me to create with Bella’s gorgeous Botanical collection.  I wanted to fill my display with lively colors much like bright spring floral blooms.

Ruby Rock-It materials: Bella Botanical Collection, Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers

I was doing a clean up at home and found an odd piece that looked like rubbish, which I decided to keep and tranform into my spring bloom display.

There are so many beautiful flowers, leaves, and butterflies to fussy cut from the Botanical collection which I’ve added to my cluster.

I then painted and misted around the display for a nice bright finish, just how lively spring season makes me feel.  Last but not the least, I added some painted Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers for the title.  Gotta love spring blooms!

Thanks for popping and and I hope you enjoyed my bright botanical display.  For more Ruby Rock-It, click HERE.

Box of Fun – Bella Nursery

I’ve been getting my fingers inky with my new baby layout featuring Bella’s new adorable Nursery collection with Ranger’s Distress Inkpads.  I always enjoy scrapping baby photos as it always takes me back to my childrens’ memories.

Bella materials: Nursery Collection, Bolt Florals, Bolt Chipboard Buttons, Gold Corrugated Cardstock, Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Evergreen Bough, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs, Weathered Wood

Other: Ranger Foam Applicator, White Cardstock, Mists, Stencils, Mediums

First I layered and stencilled my sunshine yellow mists on a white cardstock and let it set.  I then added some mediums and combined the different shades of Distress Ink on the page for depth and color.

I then framed my daughter’s photo with Bella’s Gold Corrugated Cardstock.  I love the shine and dimension of this versatile specialty cardstock.  The picture is then surrounded with some pretty golden florals from the Bolt collection.

Next I punched and fussy cut some sentiment and cute images from Bella’s Nursery paper collection, inking the edges with the Distress Ink.  I then adhered these around the page along with a gold foiled Bolt Chipboard Button.  It’s finished off with some more inking and stamping the title on the bottom of the page using the Fundamentals Alpha Wood Veneers.

I had so much fun getting creative with my daughter’s baby photo.  It’s so funny how she’s got all the toys in the world and the most fun she’s had is playing in, on, and around empty boxes.  Funny that, eh?

Go! Sports Album

Hi there! It’s time to share another fun new Bella paper collection which I have transformed into a mini sports album.  Here’s the awesome Doodles collection, hot off the press:

Bella materials: Doodles Paper Collection, Corrugated Cardboard (Pink, Silver, Blue, Black)

Fundamentals materials: White Cardstock, Candy Red Cardstock, Stars and Hearts Wood Veneers

Lots of painting and inky fun happened on every page page of this sporty mini album, with the help of Ranger’s Distress Inkpads and Foam Applicators:

Ranger Distress Inkpads: Candied Apple, Mermaid Lagoon, Foam Applicators

I started by trimming some white cardstock for the album base and then layered different prints for each page from Bella’s fun Doodles collection.

I’ve then die cut different shapes and words from my old collection of dies with Bella’s Corrugated Cardstock and added these to the pages.  I just love using my stash, dusting off old goodies and putting them to use.

I then added the 6 x 4 photos on the pages, with the exception of 1 photo which I trimmed down smaller.  Most of them are framed with Fundamentals’ White Cardstock.

I then applied some Candied Apple and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inkpad shades on the pages.  I did this by squeezing the inkpads onto my craft mat and then spritzing some water onto it.

For more color saturation, simply wet your brush a little and dip this onto the inkpad and apply it where desired.  You can also use the Ranger Foam Applicator for direct color application.

Use the excess wet color on the craft mat for splattering, my favourite step of all for no wastage.

The last photo of my daughter dear and her lovely friends is framed with Fundamentals’ Candy Red Cardstock.  I just love the extra pop of color it gives.

I stamped the Fundamentals’ Hearts Wood Veneers around the photo with the Candied Apple Distress Inkpad.  These are so cute and versatile, and I couldn’t resist stamping with them.

My daughter had a blast with her first Weetbix Tryathlon and it is definitely not her last one.  She told me her favourite leg was the cycling, and I reckon she did an awesome job throughout.  I am so proud of her…you go my growing girl!

Thanks for popping in and I hope I’ve inspired you to create with Bella’s Doodle collection.  These are available to purchase at a Spotlight store near you and can soon be purchased on the Ruby Rock-It Brands website HERE.

Cheers,
